Pet Portraits by Vicki Cheek
I grew up on a farm just outside Rocheport, MO where I was surrounded by wildlife as well as horses, rabbits, dogs, and cats. I moved to Columbia, MO in my 20's and lived way too many years in the city. Always longing to move back to the country, a few years ago, my husband and I were blessed to be able to move to our farm outside Sturgeon, MO. Being back where I'm surrounded by animals and nature has filled a great void in my heart.
From as early as age four, drawing and painting have been as much a part of my life as breathing. Although I also paint using various mediums, there is a real passion for graphite that dominates my work. I think sometimes that people can be distracted by color and miss the story or true essence of the subject. I also see more personality and character leap off the paper when it's rendered in graphite and charcoal.

I have a real love for all God's creatures. Those that find their way into our hearts and homes are the most special. When I realized I was receiving more and more requests for pet portraits, I decided to design a webpage as a home specifically for them. In addition to pet portraits, I also create and exhibit fine art pieces. You may see on my other works by following the link below.
